Labs and membership

Ways to become a member

Open join accepts an authenticated person immediately when capacity is available.
Request approval creates a pending request for the owner.
Invite only requires a valid invitation.
Joining a canonical Field Lab also keeps the Field membership and Lab roster aligned.

Roles

Owner manages the Lab, publication settings, and membership.
Editor can read and contribute to member content.
Viewer is a member with read-only access.
Observer is not a member and can only read the owner's public projection.

Invite someone

1Open Lab settings.
2Choose Invite and copy the invitation link or invite an available username.
3Explain which Lab the invitation opens and what role is expected.
4Review the member list after acceptance.

Capacity and leaving

The owner counts toward the Lab's capacity. If a Lab is full, an invitation or open join cannot bypass the limit. Members can leave; owners should transfer or resolve ownership requirements before deleting a Lab.

Keep in mind: Never use a public observer link as an invitation token. The two links have different permissions.
