Fields and Labs: the basics

A Field is the subject or community context, such as robotics, public health, or typography. A Lab is a persistent workspace where one person or a group does work around a Field. A Polymath Lab works at the intersection of two or more Fields.

• Discover finds Fields and public Labs.
• Fields lists your single-field Labs.
• Polymath lists intersection Labs.
• Profile contains account and activity entry points.
• Web offers wider desktop workspaces; Mobile uses native navigation while preserving the same server data and permissions.

1. 1Open Discover and choose a Field.
2. 2Join the Field when membership is available.
3. 3Open its starter Lab or create your own Lab.
4. 4Add a description that states the outcome and boundaries.
5. 5Open a block that matches the next action instead of adding every possible block.
